Common misconceptions about the opposite sex in Japan

TOKYO —

Recently, the website Cobs Online (http://cobs.jp) conducted a survey of 633 female and 222 male users, asking them some of the most common perceptions that men and women have toward each other in Japan.

Japanese girls assume that guys…

* …like big breasts (30%). But actually, “shape is more important than size.”

* …like skinny girls (25%). In fact, “skinny model types are too fake. Having natural curves is more womanly.”

* …want to treat girls (22%). But really, “I’m not going to shell out money for somebody I don’t care about.”

* …dislike highly educated women (20%). Seriously, though, “smart people are more interesting to talk to.”

* …like younger women (19%). To be honest, “that depends on the person; it’s definitely not true of all guys.”

Japanese guys assume that girls…

* …like name-brand items (38%). In fact, “there are lots of girls who have no idea about famous brands.”

* …think it’s natural for the man to always pay (33%). Get real: “That kind of thinking burst along with the Bubble.”

* …can’t decide anything on their own (32%). Seriously, “there are very few women who depend on a guy that much.”

* …want to quit their jobs after getting married (27%). Duh: “Women have dreams just like men; that idea is dead.”

* …are always neat and clean (24%). Actually, “I’m a pretty messy person, so it’s always awkward when people assume I’m a neat freak.”

Reply to some of the Questions I've seen about my books.

Hello,

I have tried twice to reply to this thread and my reply had been error because it was too long. LOL So I will do a blog of my own on it and post a link to the sight that led me to post this.

Hello, I'm Shiree McCarver and I want to thank you for giving me my own thread. I want to thank all of you who posted your comments to this thread. It helps me out a lot that's why I Google myself.

Grammar. I profusely suck at it. I always have, but I have a gift of telling a story and I try to do that well. However, I'm not stupid enough to think it's enough to build the legacy as a writer I would like to leave behind.

In my frustration after dealing with 3 publishers, as you see in the errors of JPOP LOVE SONG. It's much harder to get changes done through a publisher that is why I am a self-published author.

If anyone had been reading my books since All I Want Is You. You're noticing a marked difference in the errors and grammar that is because of reader of mine that swooped down on me like the angel she is to help me because I was going to walk away from writing altogether when my attempt to go back to grammar book English left me as frustrated as it did when I was in school
I would have tried harder at it if I knew I was going to be a writer instead of a vocalist like I had been dreaming to be all my life. Never considered that I be so scared on stage I would forget my words. AS much as I love singing it still happens today, but I digress, see this is why my other posts were too long and this is unfortunately how my brain works when I write. LMAO I will be the bag lady talking to myself on the side of the road one day with madness, I already know this. LOL

My proofer/editing angel is Gail Flowers. She doesn't try to change my voice as a writer because she says she doesn't know nothing about the writing process but she do know the English language better than I do and I not arguing, I'm just grateful she reached out to help me because I was retiring as a writer if she hadn't. I suck at it. This is why you have seen a the difference in reading The re-release version The Lord and The Scorpion which is the Lulu version, The Prince and the Panther, All I Want is You, Dirty Little Secrets, and as of yesterday's release Visual Kei Rock Star.

She is going through my old books one by one starting with Eternally I Do editing them and it will take some time.

To be sure I suggest you go to www.shireemccarver.com and read my sample characters before purchasing the books.

I love writing about Asian heroes and it seems to be coming my trademark even though it wasn't intentional. I love Asian men and I felt I would be wrong not to put my love for them and the cultures in general in my own books.

Jpop Love Song I can't do anything about the grammar I've tried, I've cried and fought over it until I had to let it go because it was creatively blocking me. I trusted someone and they obviously didn't have the clout with the publisher as I had thought and I rather let it go for the next 4 years left on my contract with Parker's than ruin our friendship over it.

I hope this clarify some of your questions. The thing I won't be changing is my love for purple prose and for my characters being very talkative. It's part of my writing process. My books are Movies in my head and I write them like they play out. Movies are a lot of Dialog, it moves the stories.

Thank you again!
